Chapter Eight
Two days later, they were still figuring out how to make the tub work in the space Anthony had set aside for their playroom. The biggest problem, from what Brandy understood, was figuring out how to reinforce the floor joists for the added weight of not only the tub, but the water that would fill it. And of course adding two adult bodies to the mix. âYour brother is on the way over with the kids and their gear,â Anthony said suddenly. Looking over to him, she saw him frowning at his phone. âWhat precisely does Brant mean by gear?â
Brandy laughed loudly. âOh God. Thatâs priceless. What he means is that heâs bringing over lots of diapers, wipes, bottles, food, blankets, walker, bouncy seat, and Johnny Jumper that you put up in the door. Itâs all good.â
âI did mention I was an only child with no other family members, right? All of what you just said beyond the diapers, food, and blankets is like a foreign language to me. I may speak a couple other languages, but none of that shit was ever anywhere in there. Not once.â
âDonât worry, I will introduce you to all of it. The Johnny Jumper will be hung up into a door, so we need one that has a frame on it. It wonât cause permanent damage at all. And the walker, I donât know why heâd bring that because the babies are just now learning to crawl, but knowing Brant, he will bring it. Oh, I hope he brings the stroller and car seat as well.â
Anthonyâs eyes got bigger and bigger with every word she said. By the end, he looked about as buggy-eyed as a person could get outside of the cartoons. âI feel like you are still speaking in a foreign tongue. Where the hell is the translation app for this language you speak?â
âI will introduce you to each and every single piece of gear that he brings. I will show you how to work it and what its purpose is. Donât worry so much, Anthony, Iâm not going anywhere. I will be right here with you the whole time.â Holy crap, she had fallen in love with this man. Her hand stilled on his chest and she looked at him. Three days, that was all the time they had been together, but they fit. It was like her mama told her, when she found the right one, she would know, and she did. It was this man before her. She knew that he was the one and she knew she was in love with him. Oh boy.
âYouâd better be. Kids are terrifying little beings,â he said. He frowned then and tipped his chin down a little. âHey, are you okay? Brandy? Hello, anyone in there?â he asked waving a hand before her face. âWhatâs going on, sweetheart? You look like youâve seen a ghost.â
âYou are not allowed to think that Iâm crazy,â she said simply as she looked up at him.
